Supporting Families to Prevent Child Abuse & Neglect During the COVID-19 Pandemic

In response to stay-at-home orders and social distancing rules due to the COVID-19 pandemic, ChildFocus is leading a national inquiry to determine the impact on state child abuse and neglect reporting. Multiple states have expressed the challenges of identifying families in crisis while most people are confined to their homes. We are exploring ways that states can adapt their practices to better identify and support families before child maltreatment occurs, and sharing strategies from around the country. We will continue to track and share these data until summer 2020 to help inform practice and policy.
